| Local car dealership Fairway Ford, owned by Hugh Highsmith was found liable by a Pender County Judge for deceptive trade practices. Chris Lutterloah, owner of Desperado Horse Farm took a 1999 ford truck for servicing on Friday, October 3,2003. The service manager and the mechanic agreed to finish the repairs by Saturday October 4, 2003 so that Mr. Lutterloah could use the vehicle to transport a pony to a child's birthday party on Saturday. Testimony from the dealerships employees stated that after the agreement, their supervisor told the mechanic not to come in on Saturday to finish the repair. When Mr. Lutterloah called Saturday to retrieve his vehicle he was told that the employee did not show up for work. Mr. Lutterloah then filed a lawsuit to recover his loss of income from the dealership. The judge ruled in favor of the customer, saying that the dealership failed Mr. Lutterloah. They were ordered to pay damages and the cost of court. | |||||||
